According to my source, who works in a testing centre in England (no more info than that will be forthcoming for v obvious reasons), the Government is directly restricting the number of people who can actually book a test - making it seem as if the website is at fault.
2/
In actuality, apparently, the problem, as far as their info goes, is with labs not having enough capacity to deal with the surge in test requests that has accompanied the recent surge in infections - and probably (this is me talking) the weather change recently has led to more
3/
people with colds and such presenting for testing as well.

Anyway, you may recall that during the first wave, a similar narrative about labs not having capacity was constructed to explain the shortage of tests - but in actuality, the problem was with a lack of materials
4/
due to planning failures, specifically due to a distinct lack of swabs stockpiled in the national flu pandemic stockpile. Given worldwide outbreaks, it was very hard for the Government to source swabs for tests, and therefore testing kits were in short supply.

But they
5/
tried very hard to put the blame on labs... where technicians were reporting at the time that they had absolutely nothing to do.

Looks like another false narrative is being established here.

I wonder if the labs really are to blame - or is this just the Government trying to
6/
obscure the reality of the second wave in a way that worked so well with the first? 🤔
