Firstly let’s clarify some common terms.
PC: political correctness. An old bugbear, simply put it’s the attempt to discourage any language/expressions that may prove hurtful or belittle certain people or groups.

Woke: being aware of certain issues that offend or belittle or discriminate against or victimise people or groups. Often actively trying to avoid adding to them.
SJW: social justice warrior, a somewhat sneering term used to describe a person who would actively seek to improve the lives of those suffering injustice.
These definitions could be open to interpretation but only a conspiracy theorist could apply to them any negative connotations, let’s briefly explore that.
In order for these terms to be applied negatively they would have to be applied to people deliberately using them to diminish freedoms of speech and actions.
As these freedoms and actions would have to be discriminatory or at least offensive there is no substance to this.

We have long been a nation that accepts some freedoms need to be curtailed; freedom to rob, murder and rape have been outlawed and that has improved our society. Freedoms to insult, belittle and offend should also not be missed.
So back to these terms as they are; they’re often used in arguments that their philosophy has ‘invaded’ the family tv show Doctor Who and in some way devalued it as a drama and as it’s potential as a role model. Mainly due to the show currently having a diverse cast.
Let’s assume this were true. A tv show meant to entertain an audience containing children could surely not be pilloried for trying to teach morals, unless those morals are ‘the wrong morals’, of course.
As we’ve covered earlier, these morals, if accusations are true, are the morals of togetherness, equality and fairness as opposed to hate, discrimination and offensiveness. I hope we’d all like our children to learn the former.
If this supposed situation within the show is impacting the drama we have to go a lot deeper. This is likely to be a personal opinion, I myself enjoy the current direction a lot. I know others who don’t however and this question is complicated. I’m happy to discuss this.
This is all speculative it should be remembered. Has the show been ‘invaded by a woke bias’ or not is open to question.

It should be stated that those opposed to people they describe as PC, Woke or SJW are not necessarily bigoted. Those people should however remember that all bigots will freely sneer at those terms and you run the risk of association.
In any case, is campaigning against a family tv show the best way to fight this implied crusade against freedoms the best way to achieve your ends? Whatever those ends are. It’s not really that clear to the millions of Doctor Who fans who enjoy this tv show.
Just a few thoughts for you to consider. I have refrained from accusations of bigotry in this. I’m sure there are bigots on the bandwagon, I’m sure some consider their opinions fair and about freedoms. If you maintain those opinions I’m not going to challenge them any further.
There is usually a lot of insults and harassment from people making accusations of insults and harrassment. Let’s not get into the schoolyard cry of “they started it”. Let’s just think about what happens next.
I’ll be unblocking those I’ve blocked for what I consider abusive behaviour for the time being while this thread is new. Any repeat of behaviours that led to blocking will of course lead to blocking.
