When you watch a team every night it results in overrating role players
There’s a real possibility that in many cases, the Mavericks have gotten the most out of a player’s talent. System and fit matter for most players.
I like a lot of these maverick role players. But maxi, for example, attempted the most *wide open* threes in the league. He’s not just hitting 37% because he’s independently talented. Luka got him wide open shots. Solid to great defender. Also 29 to start next year.
Dorian got the 6th most *wide open threes*.

Imagine if you replaced either of these undrafted guys with a better shooter? Or a defender (maxi is hard to upgrade from there)?

If Dallas was a finished product they wouldn’t have been the 7th seed
So I’m urging people to enjoy players but recognize that all non-Luka players are potential moving pieces
