NEW - The Commissioner of Canada Elections has determined Bill
Morneau broke the Elections Act and as one of his consequences, Morneau has agreed to pay a $300 fine. Here is the full undertaking from the commissioner #cdnpoli

Another consequence Morneau agreed to was to post on his website or social media accounts, the statement highlighted in the screenshot bellow. I've checked his facebook, twitter and websites and he has yet to post it. #cdnpoli
The issue dates back to the lead-up to the 2019 election, where in his capacity as Finance Minister, Morneau brought along two Liberal candidates to events and promoted them. Ministers are not allowed to use their office resources for partisan purposes #cdnpoli
The commissioner noted that Morneau did not intend to break the Elections Act and that he "co-operated fully and in good faith" with the commissioner. The LPC paid back $1661, which were the known costs associated with the promotion of Liberal candidates at the events #cdnpoli
