We arrived in America 25 years ago today. Feel old now.
Didn’t know a word of English when we got here but picked it up quickly because I wanted to make friends when I started elementary school here.
Now people sometimes pay me money to write things in English which is kind of cool.
On a related note, I was one of those English Language Learners back then and learned a lot from stuff like this so you should go donate because you might be helping the next car nerd to learn English. https://twitter.com/karibyron/status/1303033409678143489
I’ve told bits and pieces of our “Coming to America” story in various places but I find my childhood as a young immigrant best shared through the cars I remember which I shared in this thread. https://twitter.com/bozitatarevic/status/1075613461709799424
I remember things by food and cars often. On our TWA flight here I remember they had triangle shaped sandwiches which I had never seen before and then when we arrived to NY we had pizza and fries for dinner.
I'm a very technical person but even I find that cars can connect us to bigger stories. https://twitter.com/RRSesquire/status/1304070237650907137?s=20
I’m pretty sure that the pictures above of me being a small person prove that I’m not a robot. https://twitter.com/hooneriphic/status/1304231929886257152
