Last time the Downtown protected bike lane network was on the Commission agenda, THIS happened.

The $1M in necessary funds for the protected bike lanes (from the scooter program) have already been promised (codified) - but some are trying to take it away. /2
The designs have already been drafted by @GoMiamiDade, and @downtownMIA are pitching in for the costs of the planter protection.

This entire project could be LOST if the new resolution is treated the same way it was in July. /3

During the last meeting
@Manolo4Miami particularly encouraged the project as it would benefit both everyday commuters and support Miami's electric cargo bikes (tricycles), which are removing parked cargo trucks out of Miami's city center. /4 https://www.smartcitiesdive.com/news/miami-e-cargo-bike-pilot-dhl-city-congestion-pollution/578115/

The city partnered with DHL and Reef Technologies to pilot the bikes for last-mile deliveries, a move that's expected to reduce 101,000 kg of CO2e annually.

If the funds get diverted, well, there's no hope for the @CityofMiami to get with the times - and we're going to have to hope that the new Miami-Dade mayor gets the need for protected bike infrastructure. 5/
