LARPing and hyperbolic jokes aside, few on the Catholic Left or Right actually support the worst manifestations of communism or fascism. They will, however, provide arguments, justify tactics, and mock opponents, all with no realistic ability to shape the outcome once in power.
This is why the Integralist goal of subordinating the temporal to spiritual powers must come prior to political movements. After all, the "spiritual powers" in the US--not to mention the pope--are often to the left of those who want to see the government submit to them.
You can't talk about the subordination of the temporal to spiritual powers while mocking bishops who call for praying and fasting to end racism or who support more humane immigration policies. Subordination begins with you.
At the same time you can't give ideological justification for mobs and then say "ah that sucks but oh well" when saints are targeted and churches desecrated.
What's interesting to me is that every day my timeline is full of Muslims having this exact same debate, though for obvious (but perhaps temporary) reasons the Muslim Right is not on good terms with the Republican Party.
