<thread> My word of the year is ‘kismet’. A month or so ago I was riding my bike, got a flat in Rosebank, didn’t have a spare tube on me so used my privilege powers to order an Uber. The driver who collected me kicked me out because I slammed the door too hard (another story).
I then waited in my spandex for the next driver. We hit it off, had a chuckle about my expulsion from the prior car, we spoke about the impact of tourism and ride sharing and I learnt he was a graphic designer, driving to make ends meet.
