Most of u have it backwards on Woodward tapes. POTUS didn't underplay the virus. He initially went too far reacting to the virus. He is now on the right course. There was no preemptive action he could have taken to solve the pandemic. Deaths the same under Trump or anyone else.
People are fighting over who took notice first, Dems or GOP. The preemption debate is irrelevant. Once China did nothing to contain the virus, the cake was baked. Do people blame Obama for 60 million Americans infected with H1N1? Of course not. This whole debate is absurd.
The biggest mistake of the Trump presidency was listening to Fauci and Birx, who sold him on the plague of the century if he didn't lockdown immediately. Trump supporters should stop citing Fauci to make their points. Fauci is indirectly responsible for ruining millions of lives.
The only place in USA where we saw excess deaths was in the NY metro area, bc politicians spiked # s through policies that endangered the most vulnerable, & a chaotic environment resulted in panicked healthcare professionals making major, consistent mistakes in treating patients.
I'm just being honest with you all, take it or leave it. Trump is not responsible for COVID lives lost, nor is he responsible for the lives not lost. We are playing politics w a virus. If Trump had acted 2 months earlier or later, it wouldn't have made any difference either way.
USA, which has most liberal+aggressive counting measures on earth re COVID, is now outranked in deaths/million by Peru, Belgium, Spain, UK, Chile, Bolivia, Ecuador, & Brazil. Many more soon to vault us. The idea the situation in the US is any worse is fiction. Virus gonna virus.
