Since I've been watching BBNaija, Laycon has been the most prepared candidate I've seen. I've no idea who is team is but kudos to them for an amazing job.
From the stage, he dressed to garner attention and he understood the power of the stage. From his shirt with digital lights, to him calling himself a "sexual enthusiast". The reaction to his physical self, coupled with the above, earned him the first global trend of the HMs.
The audience was already moved the amplified banter on him, his team picked a select few to respond to - via QRT with the #. The audience hopped on. Then he spoke in the house.
His appearance belied his knowledge, interests and thought process. His being this way was a big FU to the rush to judgement about him. His fans quickly rushed to proclaim him "most intelligent, most Aristotle etc".
By now, if you are an avid watcher of the show, it was obvious he, Ozo & Nengi would be the top 3. He then formed a friendship with a lost beauty queen who needed an anchor - this unlikely pair won hearts and conferred on him an additional "masculinity" - I hope you get?
He'd been a presence on Twitter for years, his team interacts with and rewards fans for organic virality, he had his emoji picked out etc. He's a middle class boy who thrives on showing off his knowledge. He holds court on art history, science fiction, sports, wars etc.
Laycon is smart, the most temperate of the male HMs and gives the best advice. They trust him, he's led his teams to several task victories in the house. Has escaped nominations just once.
The fallout out with Erica - understand this - he was the favourite by the time they fell out. Rikky emerged as a contender in week 2. What that fallout did was ensure his margin of victory would be unassailable.
He handled it badly. Sulking, entitled, maligning her and her choice. He saw himself as some good hearted protector tryna shield her from the evils in the house - he had a conversation with Tolanibaj on the hammock where he claimed he was "too good" (for her by implication).
But the story of the tree rejection was told outside as he the small man overlooked for a bigger, wealthier dude. This allowed so many to project their own experience on him and to further "ARISE" on his matter.
TLDR - Laycon will win because his team was really prepared. Because he's not what the initial judgement was, because his music is good and because he's a physical underdog. He's smart, kind, and a canvas for the "little guy" to project their own hurt on. 
And no, I don't think he's as calculating as he's been made out. The Rikky situation on his part was entitlement, hurt and immaturity. I do not believe any of it was to further his game. .
