It's really funny and well written, which makes it worth reading on its own.
However, particularly with Amazon shoving Jack Ryan's Venezuela Regime Change Adventure on millions, it's easy to see that his garbage writing really is a blueprint for Pompeo-types.

Anyway, the way the reviewer highlights the differences between how the Russians are portrayed (vodka, manly, rivals) and how Chinese are portrayed (sexpot giggly women, cuckold men), is just a bracing snapshot of the "Mr. Sausage, Duke Nukem of geopolitics" worldview.
