If you’ve just started a #PGCE and you’re grappling with online learning, do spare a thought for your tutors. It’s new to us, too. It’s your engagement and feedback that motivates us. How can we support each other? Here are some ideas. What else is helpful? #PGCEchat
Remember that when teaching online, your tutors can’t see you all of the time. We’re used to responding to visual cues from groups. Without these, it’s much trickier. Use the chat functions to respond and to ask questions. Don’t be afraid to suggest a break.
When you do take a break, get up from your chair and move. Walk around, put the kettle on, have a dance, do some stretches. Stay well hydrated.
Engage actively with online sessions. Work on note-taking skills to sustain your attention. Join in the chat and questions. Let your tutors see what you appreciate/understand/find complex. When your lecturer is doing a good job, let them know. It does make a difference.
Find ways to connect with your peers. Reviewing learning and studying together is beneficial for your well-being.
Let's be kind to each other. We really appreciate all your efforts to make this work.
