I've become convinced that something is seriously wrong with Exist Loudly, its founder Tanya Compas, and the so-called research project she's trying to undertake (thread) https://twitter.com/ripx4nutmeg/status/1303937955220926464
Here's a thread on the ethics of the research
But it gets worse. First of all, there is no active company called Exist Loudly registered at Companies House or on the Charities register.
So who is the Data Controller? Perhaps one for the ICO @ICOnews? https://twitter.com/SafiyaOutlines/status/1303808427517505555?s=20

There used to be a company called Exist Loudly, with Tanya Compas as a sole director, but it was subject to a compulsory strike-off in February of this year (without having filed accounts.
Given that the company ceased to exist in Feb 2020, why did she start a fundraiser in June 2020? Where was the money going? Certainly not to a company bank account.
@GoFundMeUK do you normally allow struck off companies to use your platform for fundraising?

She did very well, though, ending the fundraising at 10x her initial goal of £10k in the space of only a month
Why suspend the fundraising if it was going so well?

The GoFundMe has a final update, on 1st July. A few things:
* CICs (community interest company) cannot be charities.
* It doesn't cost £52k to set one up, it costs £27
* You can file online, it's easy. Does the application take over a month to process? I suspect not.

Is this fraud? I don't know, I'm very far from being an expert. I do know that I'd be quite put out if I gave money to a cause which then turned around and gave the money to another organisation because they carried on collecting money after reaching their goal
Interestingly, Colours Youth Network, recipient of cash from Compas / Exist Loudly, was only incorporated on 2nd July - and as a limited company, not a charity.
Their company website is also their twitter page and a gofundme page, apparently.

Unmuted Brum is another phantom company - just a twitter page and a Patreon ($400/mo, not bad)
Their focus is on Queer Trans Intersex POC. No, me neither. Perhaps @intersexfacts knows what this is...?
