But everyone I know is cracking open their windows to relieve pressure should a pressure wave come through and then steering well clear of glass. The entire city is traumatised. Head of the fire department search and rescue just told me the fire is at the Duty Free section of #Beirut port but they don't know what is actually on fire, they've called for back up as their crew isn't big enough.

Lebanese army says a fire broke out in a "warehouse of oils & tyres" in #Beirut Port's Free zone& operations to extinguish it have begun, including army helicopters sent in. Unconfirmed reports in local media the army is evacuating the vicinity. Helicopters flying above my flat

Fire department just sent me these photos from the scene of the fire in #Beirut port. This video taken at the port earlier (not mine it is circulating online) showing #Beirut port workers fleeing the scene in panic. Everyone is, understandably, very jumpy

Fire dept told me it was not welding work which caused the fire but rather they believe sparks from workers using a metal-cutting saw to cut through iron bars/ metal debris at the port.
