i think the real story re: holylands needs to be focused on the landlords who repeatedly get away with failing to maintain the disgusting properties they rent every year, because they know students will be desperate for accommodation thats: 1) cheap and 2) HMO’d around uni

constant demonisation of holylands residents to me feels misplaced when we consider the state the properties are in and how careless the landlords are to maintain. yes residents are disruptive and careless, but can you blame them when not even the people they pay money to care?

(this is not even mentioning the fact that students are only now starting to come back to the holylands after leaving in march due to the global pandemic we are in, so it has been landlords who are in charge of emptying properties incorrectly and dangerously)
