We MUST keep talking about 'No Recourse to Public Funds'. Here's why:

- Migrant women affected by NRPF will find it more difficult to find housing, financial aid or healthcare
- In some cases they may be denied refuge if the refuge is provided by a government-funded agency
What this can mean for someone living with domestic abuse:

- They may need to depend on the perpetrator to avoid homelessness and have food/clothing
- This creates barriers to them leaving the situation, they may have children they need to support
The more we understand and talk about this, the better. These are human rights issues often ignored in mainstream conversation. Women of colour do not have the same level of support from the government in the UK should they decide to leave a domestic abuse situation.
This thread is incredibly brief and does not cover all of the information and specific impact that this has on migrant women. However, the @SWRC_ have a much more detailed and informative page on NRPF here: https://www.scottishwomensrightscentre.org.uk/news/covid-19coronavirus-info/no-recourse-to-public-funds-and-migrant-women-living-with-abuse/
