Last year player values didn’t change until either GW2 or GW3. I’m not sure if that’s either a) a specific protection that FPL in, or b) whether it just takes that long to get enough transfers to effect a change in price.

Whether it’s a or b is really important:
We’ve never started a season with two high profile teams blanking, so lots of managers are planning on selling Salah/Mane in GW2 to buy United assets and selling Auba in GW3 for City assets.

If there’s no specific protection to player values we will see decent swings as...
...hundreds of thousands of managers sell Salah/Mane/Auba causing their value to drop rapidly and buy Bruno/Martial/KDB/Sterling causing their values to increase rapidly.

Player price movement is capped at £0.3m per week but I’ve never seen any player move that fast...
...so will this season be a first for that speed of movement?

Keep your eyes on net transfers through the first weeks if you’re planning on bringing in city/united assets slowly - it may well be worth taking a hit to avoid being priced out of your planned purchases.
