Preview of ALL #FPL #GW1 fixtures in 1 SIMPLE THREAD? Check it out below.

1) FULHAM v Arsenal:

Auba (£12.0) is the 2nd most owned player (44%) behind Trent. He had 5 goals 2 assists post-restart, and scored in FA Cup Final and Community Shield. Easy pick, move on..
Mitrovic (£6.0) is the 2nd most owned forward (26.5%). Scored 134 points in 18/19, 26 goals 3 assists in 41 Championship games in 19/20.

Is Arsenal’s defensive solidity a myth? Only the 9th best record post-restart. Tierney (£5.5) has been playing at LCB in some games...
...and Saliba (£4.5) not nailed. Wait and see for me.

Following our podcast earlier this week, Rodak (£4.5) is no longer a nailed GK option after Fulham signed Areola (no price yet) from PSG on a season-long loan...
2) CRYSTAL PALACE v Southampton
Southampton offer value in all areas, with McCarthy (£4.5m), Walker Peter (£4.5m), Armstrong (£5.5m), Ings (£8.5m) and Adams (£6.0m) all popular picks in the #FPLCommunity

Palace have the worst defensive record of any non-relegated team...
...post-restart, conceding 18 goals in 9 matches. Their 1st choice defence is decimated with injuries, with Cahill, Tomkins, Sakho, PVA and even Ferguson all out injured

Saints have the joint 5th best attack post-restart. Ings might be a differential captaincy pick in #GW1.
3) LIVERPOOL v Leeds
Last-minute doubt has emerged around Mo Salah (£12.0m), with #FPL managers believing that #KingMo is out of form and has unfavourable fixutes. However, this overlooks the fact that Salah had an xG of 5.13 in 9 games post-restart – better than Bruno (4.46)...
...Auba (4.35), Martial (3.54), or Mane (2.15).

Salah is also capable of making a mockery of his so-called “difficult” fixtures in GW2 and GW3 v Chelsea and Arsenal. Salah got 1 assist in both matches against Chelsea last season and scored twice at Anfield against Arsenal...
...In GW4, Salah faces Aston Villa (who still do not have a decent fit keeper) - would you be surprised if he scores a hattrick?

Mane (£12.0m) could be a decent differential for maverick #FPL managers, but with his price matching Salah and Salah presumably on penalties...
....Salah seems the better option to start the season.

Leeds offer decent budget options in defence including Ayling and Dallas (both £4.5m), but a difficult start to the season (Liverpool, Man City and Wolves in the first 5) suggests they are probably a wait and see for now.
4) WEST HAM v Newcastle

Talk of unrest among the West Ham dressing room followed the sale of highly rated young prospect Diangana (£5.5m) to WBA. West Ham lost their final pre-season match 3-5 to Bournemouth. But they still have budget enablers like Michail Antonio (£6.5m)...
...and Soucek (£5.0m). Antonio had the highest xG of any player in the league following the restart, but the return of Haller (£6.5m) to full fitness may cause Antonio to be pushed out to the wing, as seen in pre-season. Soucek meanwhile had 0.23xG90 following the restart...
..higher than Armstrong or ASM (both £5.5m), but Soucek is possible doubt for GW1 after coming into contact with covid-19 case during the international break.

This together with poor fixtures after GW1 suggest Antonio/Soucek are more 1-week punts rather than long term options...
Newcastle have had an excellent transfer window so far, signing former Bournemouth #FPL faves Wilson (£6.5m) and Fraser (£6.0m), and wing-back Jamal Lewis from Norwich (£4.5m). Wilson and Fraser had a total of 21 goals & 26 assists in 18/19 season, and Bruce has clearly...
signed them to try and recreate the partnership.

However both Wilson/Fraser had a horrible 19/20 season with Wilson only netting 1 goal in his last 10 games. Newcastle’s fixtures from an attacking perspective after GW2 are also poor, facing Spurs, Burnley, Man United & Wolves...
...At the back Dubravka (£5.0m) is still out, so do not expect much from Newcastle's defensive assets.
5) WEST BROM v Leicester
Matheus Pereira (£6.0m) was West Brom’s star player in the Championship last season, scoring 8 goals and 16 assists across 42 games. Their opening fixtures are tricky however, with games against Leicester, Everton and Chelsea...
...West Brom have also not signed a new striker, meaning their leading men will be Austin or Robson-Kanu (both £5.5m), who are both probably not up to Premier League standard anymore...
Leicester had the 6th worst record post-restart in terms of points, despite having the 7th best xG – this suggests a possible over-reliance on Vardy (£10.0m) which affected them once his form dropped off. Vardy’s early season form still allowed him to win the Golden Boot...
... for the first time, and he has decent fixtures to begin, with WBA, West Ham and Villa in the first 5.

However the uncertainty of whether chance creator Maddison (£7.0m) will be fit for the start of the season plus the loss of wing backs Ricardo Pereira (£6.0m) to injury...
...and Chillwell (£5.5m) to Chelsea will affect Leicester's creativity and will count against Vardy, especially when there are so many cheaper top level forwards.
6) SPURS v Everton
Son (£9.0m) is the most intriguing option with 29% ownership going into GW1, following an excellent pre-season where he was involved in 6 of Spurs’ 9 goals, scoring 4 times and supplying 2 assists. Alli (£8.0m) may be decent budget alternative if Son is too...
...expensive, moreso if Alli can recreate his 16/17 season where he scored 225 points.

Kane (£10.5m) is also never too far from our thoughts. Despite missing pre-season, he looked sharp in both of England’s matches in pre-season and has a good fixture run to start the season...
...What counts against Spurs is Mourinho’s defensive instincts – Spurs had the 7th worst xG in the league post-restart.

Everton are exciting #FPL managers, with Calvert Lewin (£7.0m) a popular pick following the signings of 2014 Golden Ball winner James Rodriguez (£7.5m) from...
...Real Madrid and Doucoure (£5.5m) from Watford. But the new signings have not had much pre-season action, and Everton ended the season very poorly, with Calvert Lewin blanking 10 times in a row. Still, their fixtures from GW2-4 are good (WBA, Palace, Brighton) and Calvert...
...Lewin’s price allows you to drop down to other options like Wilson (£6.5m) or Mitrovic (£6.0m) if necessary.

SHEFF UTD v Wolves
Sheffield’s defensive assets have all seen increases in their respective prices following a great 19/20 season where they had the 4th best defensive record, only after Liverpool, Man City and Man United.

Following the return of Henderson (£5.5m) to...
... Man United, Ramsdale (£5.0m) could be a good option, making 128 saves in 19/20 despite Bournemouth’s relegation, as well as Egan (£5.0m) who had the 3rd highest xG among all defenders post-restart. Their fixtures are also as good as it gets, with Villa, Leeds and Fulham...
... in the first 5.

Wolves also offer decent mid-priced options this season, with no distraction of Europa League action. Uncertainty surrounding the future of Vinagre (£4.5m) amidst rumors of a move to Porto suggest that you may be safer with Saiss or Coady (£5.0m)....
...Up front, Raul Jimenez (£8.5m) remains outstanding value after back-to-back seasons of over 180 points. The fixtures at the start are initially tricky (Man City in GW2), but after that they have the best run with West Ham, Fulham, Leeds, Newcastle and Palace up to GW7.
BRIGHTON v Chelsea
Starting with Chelsea here, with Timo Werner (£9.5m) being possibly the most-under-priced asset in the game, following a season with RB Leipzig where he scored 28 goals and 4 assists in just 34 games. Looked sharp in pre-season and is a lock in my team...
...Havertz and Pulisic (both £8.5m) are also tempting, with both men returning similar goals and assists last season. However there are doubts over whether either will start GW1, with Pulisic just back from a hamstring injury and Havertz having only a few days of training...
...with Chelsea. Might be a wait and see with Liverpool to come in GW2, but if they start well, Chelsea’s fixtures from GW3 onwards may justify tripling up with West Brom, Palace and Southampton to follow.

Chelsea’s defensive assets need more time to study. Silva (£5.5m)...
...has been signed to bolster a defence which was the 6th worst in the league post-restart, and 3rd worst of all non-relegated teams.

Ziyech (£8.0m) and Chillwell (£5.5m) have also been ruled out of GW1 with injury.

Brighton’s most popular #FPL pick is Ryan (£4.5m) with 21%...
... ownership, from whom #FPL managers can expect a solid return of 130-140 points if he stays fit throughout the season. Former Chelsea man Lamptey (£4.5m, 2.2% ownership) could also prove to be a useful asset if he can nail his place down in the starting 11, after 8 ...
...appearances at the end of last season.

Captaincy

Currently, polls suggest the most popular pick in the #FPLCommunity is Aubameyang, by some distance, with Salah 2nd. Fulham had the worst defensive record of the 3 promoted teams (conceding 48 goals, 13 more than Leeds)...
...which points to Auba having the easier fixture. However, Liverpool are a far more attacking team than Arsenal, as evidenced by the Community Shield where they had 15 shots compared to Arsenal’s 8.

I expect Bielsa’s Leeds to play without fear going forward, which could lead...
... to them being caught out on the counter. Leeds have also not replaced Ben White (£4.5m), their star centre-back last season, who has returned to Brighton following a season-long loan.

Ultimately it looks like a coin toss with Salah and Auba. Since Liverpool are playing at...
... home, and they usually start the season well, I’m going with Salah.
