I don’t know where you live, but movie theaters in Southern California are extremely expensive. So a lot of people are in financial places where they can only see a limited amount of movies per year cause of cost, and it usually ends up being blockbuster movies. https://twitter.com/thespongemagic/status/1303097262214656004
The only films that get legitimate wide releases are usually big blockbusters, or kids movies. Indie films don’t always get released to chain movie theater companies like AMC, Regal, etc . And are playing at theaters that cost more. A lot of theaters aren’t handiaccesible.
I’m tired of y’all blaming the MCU for the current state of “cinema”, and how people engage with it. If studios marketed their smaller scale films to everyone, im sure more people would watch those films. If movies weren’t so expensive, more people would watch other films.
And also with how shows (tv or streaming) have made major strides in writing, acting, directing, producing, and diversity more people are like “I can watch _____ at home” instead of spending money at the theaters.
And also acting elitist when it comes to film is going to discourage people from engaging with film on a deeper level.
