Pay attention to the sound of the sentences. There are ways to make it fit the tone you want, just using its rhythms and cadences, or with alliteration, etc.

^ in the above image, I was trying to manipulate the consonant sounds to establish an alliterative feel: "un[F]ettered by her [F]ears of him [F]orsaking her again."
Another technique is to vary the lengths of your clauses; it generally makes everything easier on the ears.
