CA vs SE Marketing ~ a thread

Before 2000. The narrative (both in CM and dismantle, merc, cameo) all showcased CA narrative. A tragic love story. ‘02 shifted narrative to CT, (int ver. ultimania, cm, key visual ) turned T into full time heroine for cloud & FF7. Yet ‘02 ~ ‘05 CA still exist in KH 2/9
Still CA lurk here and there like this AC CM. ‘05 they shift focus back to A again with maiden in omega. Then ‘07 ~ ‘09 a shameless push for Z suddenly started pushing ZA narrative in 10th and CC guide & ACC. 3/9
After 2012 announcement for the remake, with FF7 ported and remastered for multiple console, and Nojima’s publishes works, aerith is back in the spotlight again for 30th anniversaries in 2018 up to NHK FF special with Aerith Cloud on top 3. 4/9
For the past 20 years many different people have attempted to restructure and re-market FF7 but despite all the effort CA still are the most iconic couple in the whole FF franchise, the most tragic and the most heartfelt one. 5/9
No marketing or words from supplemental material can change the heart and essence of FF7, the love heroine have for the protagonist and how her love pushed him toward defeating his inner demon and mortal enemy. 6/9
I do love FF7, it’s my first ff game and one that propelled me into the world of Final Fantasy. I do adore Uematsu’s music, love Nomura’s creativity and nojima’s classical literary style, but I do not enjoy the love triangle at all. 7/9
Is completely silly and pointless to continue fighting over which heroine is end game for the hero using false leading marketing campaign designed to lure both markets, a Walmart strategy as I call it. 8/9
Other than battle tech and monster stats, cool concept design and art, ultimania never provide consistent narrative. From now on I will get my most authentic experience from the game itself and at most from the creators themselves. Like Nojimas book.
