Aight let me keep it a buck. As someone deeply tied and on the inside of the entertainment industry. The way we consume Kpop (but entertainment overall) the last 7 months and it’s response has been quite the case study. The idea that the industry isn’t doing its job is wild.
We’re in an unprecedented global pandemic that has shut down industry’s most notably entertainment in a way we have never expected. We have a unforeseen amount of people sitting at home whether unemployed or socially celibate by the masses. The only source of engagement becomes
Entertainment. Meaning you have now become hyper attached to an industry that at once casually fed your bored and interest to being its full time supplier. Everyone has been saying “kpop is boring” “were not getting enough” “they’re not doing enough” when in fact, they are.
Kpop in the last 7 months has rushed through so much music and shows and new online content not because they’re sloppy but because demand is at an all time high at the same time production is at an all time low. When songs came out a year ago, we matched onto those tracks
For the better part of a year. Now artist release anything and the standom is pressed for the 25/8 engagement, promo, variety, concert, social media, endorsement and side projects before the album is even played twice. We are running already raggedy companies ragged and assuming
Zero responsibility. At the same time these companies are making less then the expected returns not because they’re flops Karen7 but because WERE FUCKIN BROKE, while simultaneously expecting these companies to push money out from where. Entertainment and especially kpop
Consumption is too high we’re gorging ourselves with it and wonder why we feel sick. Let me tell you something baby you do not need to see Twice every 3 months you’re just bored. Kai is not being held back you just have nothing else to look forward to.
Kpop is not slacking we’re just in a fuckin pandemic.
