at premier medical institutions of the country (JIPMER, @AIIMS_NewDelhi, PGIMER Chandigarh, 13 colleges under FMSc @UnivofDelhi) on #WorldSuicidePreventionDay . I asked the following questions to all of the above. #WSPD2020 1/
JIPMER DO NOT have any dedicated helpline for #SuicidePrevention but there is a Crisis helpline -7806913160 for JIPMER students/ residents/ staff/faculty. No strict record maintained with respect to suicides & attempts to suicide happening at JIPMER but they have some data 2/

In the last 10 years, there was a total of 9 suicides (3 Junior residents, 1 Senior resident, 2 Nursing students & 3 nursing staff & 5 suicidal attempts-all by Nursing staff. Overall 90 cases with 6 expired (pic) #WSPD2020 3/

Section 29(2) of the Mental HealthCare Act ( #MHCA2017) mandates programs planned, designed, & implemented to reduce suicides & attempted suicides but in the last 5 years, JIPMER has done only a CME on #WSPD2018 & AIR talk show on #WSPD2019. #WSPD2020 @drharshvardhan @TCGEHLOT 4/

JIPMER has NOT implemented the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act ( #RPDA2016) as they did not provide details on Equal Opportunity Policy, Grievance Redressal Officer & permission from Central Committee for Research on Disability all mandatory under law. 5/ @socialpwds #WSPD
Let's move to AIIMS, Delhi. I asked data on no. of suicides/ attempt to suicides happened in the last 10 years, among UG, PG, SR, Faculty & non-teaching staff at MEDICAL, Dental & Nursing courses. CDER, College of Nursing, Faculty Cell did not provide any data #WSPD2020 6/

Helpline at AIIMS 9868397175, 9868397176. Two doctors died of suicide in the last 2 months but AIIMS still devote only a half-day workshop for PGs, DM/MCh. They have 2 sites for counseling & psychotherapy in the Gents & Ladies hostel. 7/ #WSPD2020
AIIMS is notorious in NOT implementing Disabilities Act ( #RPDA2016) despite Minister @drharshvardhan being the President. They provide names of 2 GROs, did not furnish EOP & doing research ILLEGALLY as they do not take permission from #CCRD mandatory under law. 8/ #WSPD2020
PGIMER Chandigarh is the worst offender when it comes to RTIs. They have no data except no suicidal death in psychiatry. They have no record of doing #SuicidePrevention programs mandated under #MHCA2017. @DrJagatpgi #WSPD2020 9/

PGI Chandigarh does have GRO but no EOP. Despite saying copy attached, they only provided @socialpwds letters marked to them. Seems no one in PGI knows what Equal Opportunity Policy mandated under #RPDA2016 is? 10/ #wspd2020
