Political tweet, just putting this out there for my own thoughts.

People I know and love are voting for Trump. Usually they like his policies (rare), or (split the rest) that he's not a democrat, or not Biden.

I'm voting Biden precisely because he's not Trump. 1/
As I've gotten older I've probably edged closer to left leaning on some issues like 2A and abortion but mostly I'm more frustrated with the ineptitude and lack of direction from the GOP. Both sides seem to be driven by the crazies at the extreme ends of their spectrums 2/
Maybe I don't have the right words, but I'm frustrated with Capitalism in that the deck is so completely stacked for big business that the social responsibility those companies owe is lost in the demand for answering only to the shareholders.
I don't begrudge anyone their $ 3/
But when the income inequality is so off balance, is it sustainable. At what point is it asking too much of the top earners to shoulder the burdens of the lowest earners?

Is it wrong to provide incentives or penalties to corps for how they treat the environment. 4/
We surely have a track record of companies ignoring safety regulations to turn a larger profit. Heck, they gouge insulin and eppie pens, in part to fund further research which is good, but that's not the total cost. 5/
I guess I just see problems in society that need to be addressed and the GOP doesn't seem interested in providing real solutions. I don't really like the Dems solutions, but a crappy plan that helps some people is better than no plan that helps no people. To an extent. 6/
We all know the medical field and insurance costs are out of control. The invisible hand isn't going to magically regulate cheaper prices, so it's going to require some sort of govt intervention. If both sides can recognize that it's an issue, why can't we come up with a plan? 7/
If the GOP is so dead set against abortions, which I am too (save for medically necessary, rape, and incest) why can't we mitigate them with improved sex ed in schools, better access to birth control, and streamline adoptions?
Not talking serves no one. 8/
I was an avid 2A supporter, till my oldest hit kindergarten and told me of her plans during an active shooter drill. She told me if she wasn't killed right away she was going to lay on the ground and pretend she was dead and hope to not get shot. 9/
If you can't see we have a problem then you are part of the problem. Tighter regulations need to be in place. Not sure how to solve this one exactly, but spare me the protection against the govt Red Dawn crap. All your guns won't do anything against a drone and a hellfire. 10/
Gerrymandering, voter suppression (shockingly done by GOP more than Dems) money in politics, term limits (but not as stringent as you'd think), are all issues that need to be addressed.

But they never will. Almost every politician is more concerned with getting reelected 11/
They are with what their constituents think. And while they're grateful for your paltry political donations, the big money talks.
They have no qualms about destroying our faith in the public institutions that have made our country function and excel for hundreds of years. 12/
If it gets a few cheap points and a great sound bite on the latest news cycle, they'll tear down everything around them.

I don't know that I have hope anymore. I can easily see how the days before the Savior came in the BoM came to be. We've all split into tribes and are 13/
Losing sight of the real message. Love your neighbor, regardless of skin color, gender, or party. Work to strengthen your family. Help others on their way. Use the system to advance those goals. It's going to be a frustrating few months till this is over. 14/
I'm not sure we can recover as a country from the anger and disregard we have for our fellow countrymen. My heart hurts, but I find myself getting caught up in it too. I've got to do better. And that starts in my home.

Do better. Be kinder. Be more patient. Hear Him. 15/15
