In my life, I don't know if I've seen too many friendships that were sweeter than the ones Bruce Eggler had w/ a couple of reporters a half-century younger than him -- @RVargasAdvocate and @DCMonteverde. He'd cuss and fuss at them, but he loved those guys.

And they loved Bruce back, maddening as he was. They'd make sure he got home and made it to the doctor and all that sort of stuff.

Anyway, Bruce was a real character (grouch, hoarder, perfectionist, opera lover, junk-food aficionado) and one of the finest journalists and most eagle-eyed editors I've ever known. The world will be less interesting without him in it. #rip
