THREAD. Today Today Senator @TomCottonAR of Arkansas (doesn’t that just SOUND racist?) tweeted that “It’s time for Roe v. Wade to go”. We refuse to waste our energy on people like him, but his statement did remind us of an important point.
2. Sometimes it feels like the only cis men talking about abortion are misogynistic cavemen like Senator Cotton, and this is a HUGE part of the reason we’re losing in the courts. It is absolutely outrageous that abortion was barely mentioned onstage a couple weeks ago at the DNC.
3. And as per usual, the Republicans capitalized on this silence by making batshit nonsense abortion propaganda a centerpiece theme of the RNC. HEY CIS DUDES: abortion is not simply a women’s issue, it is a human rights issue, a racial and economic justice issue.
