Today, Gov. Abbott asked all TX candidates to sign a pledge against "defunding the police."

For the record, no one to my knowledge in the #txlege approves of "defunding the police." Do I want to reimagine a broken + discriminatory criminal justice system? Absolutely.

But today I will make some pledges. I pledge to support the health and well-being of ALL Texas children. Given Texas' abysmal ranks in healthcare coverage & access, I support expanding Medicaid in Texas to draw down billions of federal dollars to help these children. #txlege

I also support dramatic increases in state financial support for children with disabilities. Our most fragile populations deserve nothing less. I further pledge to support making mental health coverage more accessible for all communities. #txlege
