#TVWriting: I only lightly outline my spec pilots and movies, much less detail than a TV episode. I like to feel my way through them a bit. But I still do a bare bones outline to make sure I have a basic road map. 1/?
For my spec work, usually I find just a few words per scene is plenty.

For example:

15. T & V talk
16. T negotiates with U & Ta.
17. The caravan crosses the border
18. Enter town
19. Locals turn hostile

The idea is to have room to riff, but still know the moves that will get me from beginning to end. So don't let the idea of outlining intimidate you. It doesn't have to be super detailed to the point you feel you're shackling yourself. Just enough to see the way. #TVWriting 3/?
Though this method does lead to scene cards like this one:

30. Now they're REALLY f---ed.

Anyway, if you're trying #TVWriting, or any kind of long form writing really, I strongly recommend you outline, but you don't have to freak out about it.
