The problem w/ social media is that politicians who make life brutal for ppl living in encampments (increased police, no water) can appear aligned by sharing the media that groups formed to counteract their neglect & violence create. Exhibit A:KWT's web page w. our explainer.
We are literally volunteers delivering water and survival to the parks that @kristynwongtam refused to turn the fountains on in for the entire summer, and which she hasn't visited. We work with great artists to make informative pieces about the crisis and she co-opts them.
While the province and federal government need to provide Toronto with money for housing, Toronto City policies that refuse basic survival gear for people who are forced to live in encampments are murderous. @kristynwongtam can't pass the buck on everything.
Moreover, we know that the lack of housing in the downtown core and sky rocketing rents are owed to development and gentrification against which she has in her successive terms, refused to fight and more often been amenable to.
We are not gonna both do the job that @kristynwongtam should be doing of delivering water & survival gear AND have her progressive wash with our volunteer generated resources that report on city practices she has power to change and speak out against. So insulting. Take it down.
