Maintainers are being beaten down, and never see renumeration beyond the same $10 being passed from maintainer to maintainer every month on GitHub.
Creators are being beaten down by the same tech companies that refuse to share the billions unlocked by the OSS they rely on (or are selling access to).
The same $10 is being passed from maintainer to maintainer in monthly donations through GitHub sponsorships or Open Collective.
