Okay I know I've been talking about my dead dad a lot lately but I think you guys can LEARN SOMETHING from this story (thread):
My dad was brain dead during his time in the hospital, but the nurses told me he could hear me (and I chose to believe that), so I'd tell him I was there, read to him, talk shit about our family, etc etc. Stuff I knew he'd appreciate.
When it came time to take him off life support, I wanted to play his favorite song. But it hit me that I didn't KNOW his favorite song. I had some ideas, but I wanted to get it right. So I asked my stepmom, "Hey, what's dad's number one, all-time favorite song?"
And my stepmom looked at me in my retinas and said.....

...."Smooth."

As in "Smooth," the 1999 smash hit by Santana ft. Rob Thomas.

I turned it on.
The nicest ICU nurse came in to make sure my dad was comfortable as MATCHBOX 20 FRONTMAN ROB THOMAS was singing, "My muñequita, my Spanish Harlem Mona Lisa." She nodded slowly, as if she'd seen this before.
My dad took his last breaths as Rob Thomas went on about how "it's just like the ocean under the moon," which I now understand to be a simile for WAP.
Anyway. You might know your dad, but you don't know your dad. Please ask the important questions now so you don't find yourself sobbing along to the horniest song of 1999 next to your dying dad (who again, you DO NOT KNOW AT ALL)
