A comment of mines reported for explaining to black men that black people are a product of an environment that was created by a racist system to hold us back a thread...
So...There was a meme floating around Facebook with black men in suits on the left labeled as men and black men with sagging pants and guns pointed at the camera on the right label as niggas. I already know comments would be on and poppin.
This is when I explained that hood nigga behavior is a product of the environment that was forced apon us by racist to hold us back. They never wanted us to succeed. Look what happened to prominent black towns like Black Wallstreet. We are right where they want us and its up to
us to chnage. When a people are redlined to certain areas with limited resources and poor education, limited to no job opportunities, they become hopeless. The seed has been planted. Now you introduce welfare to split up the black family. Force drugs into these poor areas what do
you get? Black people are forced to survive. This very behavior is a product of everything done to us to hold is back. What I've noticed is black people seem to have a problem with those who beat the odds or those who dare to be different.
Its almost as if the black men who reported my comment want associate this behavior with being black and are proud of it. What is being black though? Why are so many black people keeping themselves in a stereotypical box?
For example Black folks(especially those from the hood) think that blacks who are articulate, well educated, who have interest outside of the black norm are "acting white". So again what is "acting black"?
Because by saying certain blacks "act white" you are saying that being ignorant, uneducated, etc is being black. That is putting a harmful image on us as a whole. Why would you want to be to be a stereotype?
Let's be real here the media almost ALWAYS show black people in the most stereotypical way. They NEVER show the good that we do. NEVER! When they do, it is met with anger from the people who resent our very presence. Which means they rather see us in a bad light because it helps
a racist and bigoted narrative. It means they were right all along and their racism is justified. So I fail to see why black men had a problem with what I said. I was trying to tell them that we need to do better. We must fix the harm that has been done and show the world we
are more than what the system, the media, and racist make us out to be, but hey.... apparently I was wrong, people who think lime me are lost and now because of these ignorant idiots I'm locked out of my account for 24 hours.
Oh and he said we took the word nigga and gave it power. Tbh we should be using that word to begin with. Yes in different languages it translates to black BUT white took it and made it OFFENSIVE meaning it is used to degrade us. Lets use Kings and Queens or Brothas and Sistas.
