It's simply untrue that individuals released on bond are driving the rates of violence we've seen in our community.

Unlike those making these false claims, the @cookcountysao is committed to using data-informed strategies to reduce violent crime. This is what the data says:
The number of gun crimes being committed by individuals released on bond is incredibly small.

When looking at gun cases brought to the @cookcountysao this summer, less than 10% were individuals out on bond for another case.
There is not a revolving door at bond court.
Each year, since 2018, less than 2% of people arrested for a felony gun charge had a previous gun arrest within the same year. This trend is consistent over time.
