Covid testing troubles thread:

I’ve been contacted by a parent who’s been trying to book a Covid test for her family but getting nowhere. The system is a joke and it’s causing chaos.

Two kids, at different schools. The youngest has developed a cough, the oldest is fine but has his mock exams in two weeks which will probably decide his GCSE grades.

Mum’s been trying to book a test, they’re happy to drive...

She’s been on the testing website for two days now, no slots available, no home test kits, website constantly crashing.

They finally got a testing slot in Bexhill-on-Sea (45 miles away), but the website crashed and she lost it...

Meanwhile, she doesn’t want her eldest to miss these important 2 weeks of school, so is sending him in. She’s making him live upstairs alone, while the rest of them isolate downstairs. It’s an impossible position to put parents in.

They got a slot tonight, but with a catch..

... the testing slot is on the Isle of Wight, a long drive but they’re happy to do it. Only issue is that the ferry doesn’t allow people with Covid symptoms, so she’s back to square one and can’t cancel the test.

Someone in Govt needs to held accountable for this shambles.
