Around this time in 2010, the largest volunteer operation was underway in Eastern Bosnia. In the summer of 2010, the hydroelectric dam in Bajina Basta was repaired and the Perucac Lake - accumulated Drina River dried up, between Visegrad and Bajina Basta. /1
As the soil dried up and cracked, human remains surfaced. All the testimonies we heard for years about Bosniak civilians killed and thrown into the Drina - some their remains now resurfaced. For almost 3 and a half months, exhumations teams searched the more than a 100km /2
of the Drina river banks. However, difficult terrain, mines, snakes made it difficult to cover the entire territory. Thus volunteers were called up to come and help. A total of app 2000 volunteers in total arrived in 2 weeks to help before Serbian authorities release the water./3
Human remains, skulls, socks with bones, wire, were found. /4
As well as concrete evidence which confirmed the testimonies we heard about victims tied up and thrown to drown. /5
Almost 300 cases were discovered - around 200 identities confirmed by DNA, mostly a few bones. Most of the victims were Bosniak civilians from Visegrad(1992) and a dozen from Srebrenica/Zepa (1995). In addition 2 Serb soldiers, killed in Gorazde./6
25% of the victims were female. The oldest victims were Imamagic Aisa and Ohranovic Hasida(both born 1906).The youngest victims is Podzic Haris (1988).2 of the victims were victims from the Strpci abduction in 1993. One of the victims was from the Sjeverin abduction in 1992. /7
