I’ll say I’m white before I start. Which is probably obvious but I don’t care.
But this is seriously f’d up. This is human self-sacrifice at the alter of wokeness.
This is what Ayn Rand warned about—the immolation of the self.
Think her philosophy is BS? Stop acting it out! https://twitter.com/aja02537920/status/1303743257961205761

This is what they want us to teach our children— to hate themselves so much for something they neither caused nor chose that even indirect expressions of self-appreciation or enjoyment at what one has achieved are evil and must be destroyed.
Of course, BIPOC neither chose nor caused systemic racial issues, and thats why it is the responsibility of all to dismantle that on a macro level.
Yes, I said *all.* Because none of us asked to be born into this system, whether it advantages us or disadvantages us, and it is the responsibility of all of us to change it.
Also, this self-flagellation is so counterproductive! I don’t want to say things like “I won’t apologize for simply being white and existing in a space.” But, before now, no one* was asking me to apologize for it! Now I am being asked to! To preface everything I say with:
“It’s not my place to have an opinion...”
White privilege exists. But that doesn’t mean we as individuals need to spend our life paying penance for it, and asking us to will only make us less likely to want to fight it.

And it makes me use words like “us” and “we” for white ppl. I don’t want to use words like “us” and “we” for white ppl. I want to look at “white people” as a group!
You wokesters don’t realize what you’re doing! Ppl are tribal and you’re making ppl who never thought of “being white” as something that defined them define themselves by this characteristic!
If you make ppl define themselves by a shared characteristic, they’ll start to see themselves as unified by that characteristic. That is the opposite of your goal!
You aren’t fighting “Whiteness”; you’re fomenting it!
In ppl who are liberals, leftists, ppl who used to value diversity but now roll their eyes when they hear that word because you’ve defined “diversity”, on a micro level, as “not you.” Personally.
It’s not that they ever had an issue with BIPOC voices being amplified; but they start to when they, personally, are told that they, personally, are not allowed to speak bc other voices are more important, bc of a characteristic they were born with.
I’m not going to call this “reverse racism.” But by applying the macro principles on a micro level, which “anti-racism” encourages, you are judging the merits of individual ppl’s potential for contribution, and actual contribution, on the color of their skin.
And I hate saying any of this! I don’t want to say “white ppl are being treated unfairly!” But this rhetoric and philosophy is asking white *persons* to devalue themselves on an individual basis and to see themselves as irredeemable sinners for actions they never committed.
This will not end well.
