Dang, Bam didn't even make honorable mention in this top 10 list dated march 18, 2020
Bam didn't make the top 15 of @danfavale's best of article

Wonder if that opinion has changed since the 19-20 season played out??
I see a bunch of people saying don't compare Bam to Jokic, Kat and Joel E.

And I can see that, as the usage rate for them are a lot higher on offensive then what is needed for the Heat to be successful and win so their numbers look better.
the Joker and Bam are the only starting centers considered to be top 10 to make it to the second round. so let's look at their numbers since they have the larger sample size than Joel getting bounced in 4 games.
Player Efficiency Rating (playoffs)

Bam 20.7
Jokic 24.8

Theis 13.9

Jokic is a clear 4 pts better here

------
you'd think Jokic is the clear better passer?

Assists per 36 min

Bam 4.9
Jokic 5.2

Turnovers per 36

Bam 2.7
Jokic 2.9

I'd call this a draw
Rebounds

------
This is a category where Bam bests Jokic

Bam 11.7 per game (playoffs)
Jokic 9.0

Per 36 min rebounds

Bam 11.9
Jokic 8.8
Defense

While you can't quantify defensive presence in that Bam can switch out on 1 - 5

Blocks

Bam .8
Jokic .6

Steals

Bam .9
Jokic .6

Defensive Rating (An estimate of points allowed per 100 positions)

Bam 104
Jokic 119

Bam better than 15 pts here
Offensive

Jokic has a better all around offensive game as he is a better passer and can shoot 3s very well.

That being said, Bam sees the floor well and does a great job in the high post setting up players with screens and dribble hand-offs.
With all that said, when you look at offensive rating in the playoffs

Bam 123
Jokic 120

Bam has bested Jokic here as well
Another plus for Bam on the offensive end over Jokic that goes unnoticed is that Bam gets to the line more.

FTA (per game playoffs)

Bam 5.1
Jokic 3.6

not only that Bam is shooting 87% from the line so he is really making it count when he gets hacked
as @TheMadHEATFan will let you know, Bam's midrange game has been off the charts in the playoffs as well.

so when you look at Jokic and Bam side by side I don't think one player jumps out as besting the other, as shown above.
and looking toward the future, Bam is only going to get more comfy shooting from midrange and eventually to the 3 as his game expands and his usage rate will subsequently increase and his numbers will look amazing...
So while most of twitter says you can't put Bam in the top 3 yet, his teams performance in the W/L column and his numbers being not that far off tend to make me think he is already there.
Let's see how the ECF go.
