The 21-year-old graduate of the French Bordeaux academy, Jules Koundé has enjoyed an outstanding form this season winning the 2019-20 Europa League in the process.
Lopetegui places a flat 4-3-3 which morphs into a 3-2-5 during possession. The majority of Seville's gameplan relies on the fullbacks. Koundé plays as RCB partnering with Brazilian Diego Carlos as a centre back.
One of Kounde’s big strengths is his performance in aerial duels and individual defensive duels.
The French player has a successful aerial duels rate of 3.2 per game this season in the Spanish League.
Standing at 180 cm tall, Jules Koundé is also packed with some exciting technical abilities. He can play both as a left and right centre-back and has the ability to play with both feet which allows Lopetegui to deploy him a right-back or a left-back at times.
The following scatter plot shows the tackling accuracy of La Liga's centre backs. Koundé has comparatively lower tackles attempted and fouls committed per 90 which makes him an asset for Sevilla.
The following scatterplot shows the pressing accuracy of La Liga's centre backs. Koundé has a dribble past rate of 0.3 per game which makes him an elite defender in the league.
Jules Koundé has a current market value of €30.0m and his current contract with Sevilla FC expires on 30th June 2024.
Koundé is currently under the radar of many European teams. So further in this thread, we will discuss and compare him with some other centre backs whom he can replace or inherit in Europe.
Manuel Akanji of @BVB maintained a decent form last season and partnered Hummels well when Dortmund operates back four. But if Dortmund in the near future needs an upgradation of Akanji, they may look for Koundé.
Competition is always a good thing. Zagadou, a young prospect of @BVB is enjoying his time at the German club. Soon the club may think about bringing another talent in the dressing room in order to heat up the fight for starting XI. Koundé could be the one.
Milan Skrinar is gaining attention from other European clubs. Jules Koundé could be an excellent young alternative of the Slovakian at the @Inter_en.
The Brazilian warrior, Thiago Silva has completed his move from @PSG_English to @ChelseaFC. It’s tough to replace a guy like him in the squad but, the French club will look at all options available in the market to find a new partner for Kimpembe. Jules Koundé should be an option
Victor Lindelof had a decent run in the Premier League and Europa League this season with @ManUtd. But for winning major trophies, Ole Gunnar Solksjaer may soon need to optimize his squad and Koundé seems to be a good replacement of Lindelof.
The juggernaut of @en_sscnapoli, Kalidou Koulibaly is a kind of a name every manager wants to add in his team. Currently, Koulibaly is heavily linked with Manchester City. Soon Napoli may need to search for his replacement and Jules Koundé seems to be a good option.
Nicolas Otamendi has past his days at @ManCity. Soon manager Pep Guardiola may come to a decision to replace the 32 years old Argentine and Koundé seems to be a good option.
Sokratis is currently nothing more than a benchwarmer at @Arsenal. With the arrival of Gabriel Mangalhaes this window, his game time became more limited. Manager Mikel Arteta will sell him in the near future and Jules Koundé could be an ideal replacement.
Koundé is currently miles behind the French warrior of @realmadriden. However, Koundé will be an excellent substitute for Varane and based on the current situation, Real Madrid could use a new centre back for the bench in the upcoming La Liga season.
Should he stay at Sevilla and continue his development or should he make his way to a new team? We would like to know your thoughts on this.
