This is about #Westmont, but also the story of so many communities in #LosAngeles, particularly in Black, Brown, and low income neighborhoods.

“It’s like a forgotten city...All we got is candles where people have been killed at, abandoned buildings and motels and liquor stores.”
A legacy of economic exclusion that creates poverty and homelessness.

A lack of community programs and mental health resources to serve and protect our youth and most vulnerable.

And systemic racism that not only leads to violence, but generational trauma.
“We survived the ‘80s, we went through that … But now you got this pandemic and now you got the police you have to watch out for at the same time.”

Measure J is a ballot measure specifically created to start to right the wrongs of this type of racial injustice.

By finally funding programs we know actually work to reduce crime and keep us safe.

That means health care, jobs, and housing—not just more police. 👏

We know this works because it’s proven to work (you can read about it at http://yesonj.la ).
So this is what we’re asking.
