Q5. If you had to obtain a PhD again would you do it?

A5 Absolutely! As a first-generation, disabled person, from a disadvantaged, working-class background, becoming a PhD has been an amazing personally fulfilling accomplishment. I wouldn’t change that! 1/4 #DisChat
A5 I MUST add that a PhD was something I wanted to do for ME. I wasn’t doing it because a parent/other said I had to. I think this was a difference-maker because when it was stressful, I was only answerable to me. 2/4 #DisChat
A5 I would also remind myself that even if I didn’t get a PhD that there is valour in trying & living the experience. We rarely credit ourselves enough for trying, when so many do not even reach that stage. 3/4 #DisChat
A5 Remember also to look back at the ground you’ve covered. As a kid, I waited in lines with my family to get government PB/cheese/powdered milk. Now I’m a PhD, but the PhD doesn’t define me, the journey does. 4/4 #DisChat
