1. Massacres and murders
In the area around Tumaco, 7 young people, 5 women and 2 men between 15 and 17 years old, disappeared. Only the photo of one of the victims was developed, tied up and dead, their bodies were not found.
-9 young people massacred in Samaniego.
-5 young people massacred in Cali.
-2 young people massacred between Cauca and Nariño.
-1 young man mutilated for being gay.
-1 young man beheaded because of his sexual orientation in Huila.
-2 indigenous people massacred in Corinto.
2. Murders of social leaders in Colombia
In Colombia in 2016 there were 61 murders of social leaders; in 2017 the figure rose to 84, by 2018 the highest peak was recorded when there were 115 homicides, in 2019 it reached 108 and +
according to the count of the Institute of Studies for Development and Peace (Indepaz) the number of murders of social leaders in the country rose to over 100. These murders are also treated as theft, revenge for the collection of loans, or any other excuse for+
+not accepting what they are: attempts to silence the voice of their demands, to nullify the opponents, the peasants, the uprooted and the defenders who raise their voices against the dynamics of violence that seems to go on and on.
Worst of all, these killings are preceded by threats and ha
rassment that are not heard by the Colombian government, which leads to the above-mentioned tragedies.
3. Police abuse
On November 21, 2019, a series of protests were held around the country. In these protests the police abuse that was seen was immense, so much so that on November 23, 2019, 18-year-old Dilan Cruz was attacked by riot police in the middle of a protest in Bogotá
He was attacked with a handmade, i.e. illegal, projectile fired by ESMAD Captain Manuel Cubillos Rodriguez. Unfortunately, Dilan died on November 25 from a brain injury. He was to graduate from school in the next few days.
And today Colombia woke up to horrific images of a group of police officers electrocuting Javier Ordoñez, a lawyer who had been given a subpoena. They electrocuted him to death even though he was immobilized and unarmed, without caring that they were being filmed.+
We Colombians are tired of being killed every day
Unfortunately, for many, being born in this country is a sentence.
Do you think differently? They kill you.
You're part of the LGBT community? they kill you.
Are you a woman? They kill you.
Are you a social leader? They kill you.
Are you a child or a young person? They kill you.
Are you in a protest? They Kill you
Are you a teacher? They kill you
