well, to start off with, it's a fair distance from Morningside Road to Montrose Street, for example...
and lets assume the staff member or student isn't; driving, because... well... the earth is going to explode soon and parking in the city centre is 1) a nightmare 2) expensive and 3) there is about a 25 degree incline on Montrose Street...
So, stage 1:
Getting the 101A (101, eh? surely if it's Edinburgh... anyway...) the staff memeber or student has to travel 7 stops to get to their first changign point. 7 stops, 17 minutes.

After a short walk (Edinburghers would normally use a horse and carriage, but times are hard..) the staff member or student gets on their next bus, the 900 to Glasgow (called that because Glasgow is 900 times cooler than Edinburgh obviously)
