Congratulations to Cristiano Ronaldo for notching his 100th (& 101st) international goal.

The Portuguese is only 9 goals away from breaking the all-time international scoring record in men's football, currently held by legendary Iranian striker, Ali Daei.

Here's his legacy...
Ali Daei was the first ever Asian footballer to play in the Champions League.

This was in 1998, playing for @FCBayernEN.
He was also an unused sub in the 1999 Champions League Final vs Manchester United. Fun fact.
Daei played in Iran's famous victory over USA at World Cup '98 in a match that was described as the "Most Politically Charged Game in World Cup History" and "Mother of All Games".

It was Iran's first ever victory in the history of the FIFA World Cup. 🇮🇷
He enjoyed a brief stint with Bayern, before moving to @HerthaBSC_EN where he scored against Chelsea and Milan in the Champions League, and pulled off their away kit remarkably well.
Another fun fact - Ali Daei captained Islamic Azad University football team in the 2007 World Interuniversity Games, scoring a hat-trick in the final match against University of Osijek and winning the gold medal, aged 38.
Ali Daei's historic record will likely be broken by Ronaldo, but his legacy will live on forever.

Long Live King Ali. đź‘‘
