I want to raise a conversation that might not be at the top of everyone's mind right now, about how the Nov. Presidential election might go.
Some of you may remember, there is a pandemic ongoing. One that passes in crowded indoor places. Like voting locations.
Rationally, lots of states (and people) are shifting towards mail-in or absentee ballots, depending on their state and system (Washington, for example, is all mail-in ballots, and glorious). But the number not happening at polling places is going to be thru the roof.
This is a smart and safe choice. If this works for you, do it! It is also new for a lot of states, and is not being supported (shocker) by the federal government.

As a reminder, how elections are coordinated happens at *very local levels*.
So a lot of variables, and a lot of crossing messages about what's going down.

Point #1 - Have a plan to vote. Make sure your people have plans to vote. Make that plan now. Make sure you are registered to vote at your correct address.
Because we're going to be high in absentee and mail-in voting, people are going to be casting their votes... Sooner than you think. Election day will be the culmination, not the kick off.
Gotchas have never worked against this President because he has no standards, so he isn't held to any.

But with earlier voting there is even less of a chance people are being super shifted late in the game. Which means - now is the time. Now is when you can make a difference.
Here's the kicker. Absentee and mail-in ballots are different, and get handled differently in different states. You should look into it for your state. But there are some things that have historically been true that are going to make Election day likely real stressful.
Advisors of the President know this, which is why they've been singing the "VOTER FRAUD" tune already *for months*. There is a reason that he keeps talking about mail-in ballots being fraud monsters.

They tend blue, so late counts tend to move the vote for Democrats.
It seems highly likely that we end up in a situation where on Election day itself, it looks like Trump has won.

But many places *only start counting* mail-in and absentee ballots on election day. IT CAN TAKE DAYS.
And because of all the reasons up thread, as those ballots get counted, the results will shift towards Biden. Likely in a big way.

But Trump doesn't play by the rules. So how likely is it he declares victory with extremely partial results?
Pretty high. In fact, he's already calling for an "Army" to protect ... ballots? Um hm.

All of his rhetoric is about both voter intimidation and voter suppression.
This is a great time, while you're making those voting plans, to talk with everyone you know about this effects. That it could easily be a week post-election before actionable results are known. The more we normalize it, the better.
