This has been the week of Crappy News so I'm just going to say this and go because I can't deal with how sad I am:
#MabelLaFrown has had to go back to the rescue. She was a total sweetheart to me, indifferent to Moose, and a savage hellbeast to poor Mawri.

Normally cats not getting on is something you can train out but I can't overstate how bad this was. I've never seen a cat attack like that, and just refuse to let go, hanging off her back by her claws.
Apparently she has history -- including attacking a Staffie dog!!!!

I love her to bits and am GUTTED but it's the right thing to do for everyone. Keeping them separated in a flat isn't fair because it's not enough space, and Mawri is terrified and injured.

I have to accept that rescuing animals -- or trying to!!! -- is more about them than me. Her hating Mawri this much is terrible for her and for Mawri, so there's nothing to be done. This isn't the right home for her, even though she loves me and wants fuss all the time 
Maybe I'll foster next time and see how it goes first. I've never seen a cat attack like that. I'm a bit traumatised so can only imagine how Mawri felt.
Anyway I will keep in touch with the rescue and hopefully she'll find the right home (where she's the only pet, I suspect!)

Email from the vet. Apparently people say this about cats as well as life partners!
