2. While ALL Americans are stressed, research shows parents of young children are especially overwhelmed. And two subgroups are at particular risk for clinical anxiety and depression: pregnant and postpartum people and parents who are struggling to meet their kids' basic needs.
3. One study showed rates of anxiety among perinatal women went from 29 percent prepandemic to 72(!!) percent during the pandemic.
4. For the folks out there who say, if you didn't want to spend time with your kids, you shouldn't have had them, you need to understand how unprecedented this moment is. Parents have ALWAYS relied on people outside their immediate family for practical and emotional support
5. While the biggest help right now would be to assure American children would get their basic needs for food and housing met, in the meantime, parents are finding solace in their children.
