Patriarchy and misogyny are inherent in men. We all are brought up in Patriarchal culture which values "control” and “domination" so it is very much internalized in men as well as women ( to an extent).
The common example I can give about misogyny in Men is the kind of cuss words they use on a daily basis. I mean you are objectifying women's body parts daily and then you get offended when we say “all men are trash”?
Men use women to bond with each other through shared participation in degrading women through sexist memes or jokes etc. even if you don’t actively participate, you won’t object when you see that happening. You are also a part of the problem.
The other worst kind of patriarchy which irks me is when Men “decide” for a woman what is “right” and what is “wrong”. No, you do not get to decide anything for us.
Remember when Shami put a photo with her wife. There were comments by so-called “feminists” that “she is in a saree so she looks good”. These kinds of people irk me more than those who were abusing him. I mean who the hell are you to judge and decide that?
My other problem with Men in general is, most men are aware of their patriarchal mindset, but most of them are uninterested in change. If some man is helping her wife/mother, you would name-call him. Men don’t even acknowledge that Patriarchy and misogyny deep-rooted in them.
We have a long way to beat this patriarchal mindset but we can start with a small step - stop using our body parts as gaalis maybe?
