From 9-10am, I'll be talking about how I use social media to become more informed and aware of systemic racism, discrimination, and violence. I'm a 3rd gen US-born, white, cishet, upper-middle income, 30-something woman with no physical disabilities. This all informs my
1/
experiences & worldview. With these privileges, & no formal training on issues of racism & white supremacy, I'm trying to listen, learn, & follow.
One way is using social media to literally follow & learn from people & orgs working on Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion (DEI).
2/
In this, I try to:
. listen, be quiet, & sit with lessons
. reflect on my in/actions
. think about how I uphold unjust systems
. respect that not all "spaces" are for me
. follow & support those leading the way in ways *they* seek support
