im no psychologist but i am a person with my own brain and i do wonder how much individualising of responsibility (and so blame) for covid spread, either explicitly or as a response to government inaction, a person can reasonably take before the damage sets in
getting so anxious you cant do anything outside your home, or becoming completely blackpilled, or responding to crisis by making yourself a boil in the bag expert on how people should be behaving, all of these things are utterly corrosive
i dont think it helps at all that the anglophone internet makes it feel like the situation is the same everywhere? so you can be talking to your followers in london as though the outbreak is at the same stage as florida
idk i just think that acting like the last person observing full april 2020 lockdown no matter their own risk factors or the infection rate, safety measures, and needs of their local area will win a prize is extremely psychologically damaging for all of us. idk
idk. it all sucks. i guess that's the definition of crisis - no good options. just makes me a bit sad that we're quite good at stating that material responses must be collective, but the idea that we owe each other some sort of emotional mutual aid just doesnt take as easily
