In the four largest U.S. cities, more than half of households confronted health and financial challenges due to #COVID19—with Black and Latino households, and households with incomes below $100,000, being hit first and worst.
🏙️In New York City, 1 in 3 households (34%) report using up all or most of their savings since the start of the coronavirus outbreak.
🌆In Los Angeles, 1 in 4 households (25%) missed or delayed paying any major bills to ensure everyone had enough to eat.
🏙️In Chicago, 1 in 3 households (33%) either do not have high-speed internet at home or report serious internet connection problems for work or schoolwork.
🌆In Houston, more than half of households (60%) have experienced serious problems caring for their children.
"This pandemic has revealed glaring problems in the nation's #healthcare system," says @DrRichBesser. "We need to be able to provide safe, affordable care for people with COVID-19, as well as for the many with chronic medical conditions so rampant in America."
Today's release is the first in a series of reports. Over the next few weeks, we will continue to share findings from this poll that will help us better understand the impact of coronavirus on various households in America. https://rwjf.ws/35gAEXT
